How to Grow Veronica from Seed
Veronica, or Garden Speedwell, is a pretty perennial and the source of one of natures few true blue flowers. Veronica is a fabulous addition to a flower rich lawn where bees and butterflies will readily forage for the nectar it produces in abundance.
Speedwell grows happily in any well drained soil and is happy in full sunshine or partial shade. Autumn sowing often produces the strongest plants.
Sow in trays, indoors, from January to March, or September for over wintering. Sprinkle the seeds over the growing compound surface, keep moist and maintain a temperature of 20-25C, 68-77F. Germination normally takes place within 14 to 30 days.
When the seedlings are large enough to handle thin out into individual pots and gradually harden off before planting out in May. Veronica is normally in bloom from June to September.
