How to Grow Lysimachia from Seed
Towering, resilient and elegant, Lysimachia is a cottage garden favourite that brings a bright splash of sunshine to your border planting. Great for difficult clay soils and shadier parts of the garden, Lysimachia thrives in damp borders, bog gardens and woodland gardens or at the margins of a pond.
Sow thinly in trays from May to August at 65-70F. Germination usually takes 30-60 days.
Transplant into 3 inch pots or into another seed tray 3 inches apart when the seedlings are 3 inches tall and grow them on in frost-free conditions for transplanting outdoors later on. When Loosestrife plants are well grown, and around 6 inches tall, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions for 10 to 14 days, before planting them in sunny or partially shaded borders.
