Cerinthe Purple Belle

Haunting plant with blue tubular flowers and supported by fleshy blue/green bracts not dissimilar to Eucalyptus.

How to Grow Cerinthe from Seed

Cerinthe seeds are best sown individually. Soak seeds overnight before sowing.

Sow under cover between February and April (around 6 weeks before your last frost date) for a summer flowering or in August and September (around 6 weeks before your first frost date) for an early spring flowering the following year.

Sow on to very moist compost and cover with 10mm with vermiculite. Propagate at 18-20°C. Germination takes 10 to 20 days. Maintain a temperature of 15C for approximately 2 weeks after germination before lowering the temperature to 10C.

Grow Cerinthe in moist but well-drained soil in full sun.
