Leucanthemum Crazy Daisy
Leucanthemum superbum Latin name
An unusual variety with beautiful snowhite frilly, 2 ½”daisy-like double blooms and a lovely soft yellow centre. These eye-catching flowers are easy to grow and look gorgeous in a sunny border and make fantastic cut flowers too. Loved by bees and butterflies what’s not to like about these cheerful Shasta Daisies. 24-36”. HP.
How to Grow Leucanthemum from Seed
Sow onto moist well drained compost just covering the seed with a little soil or vermiculite. Light is needed for germination which can take 3-4 weeks at an ideal temperature of 55-60F (13-16C). If germination doesn't occur, cold stratify by moving into a temperature of 39F (4C) for 2-4 weeks and then return back into the warm. The seedlings can be transplanted when large enough to handle into 8cm pots. Harden off and then plant out once all danger of frost has passed. We would recommend you pinch out the growing tips and first set of leaves in May to produce a bushier plant and deadhead or cut flowers to extend the flowering period At the first sign of frosts, cut plant down to ground level and divide every 3-4 years as soon as the growth begins to appear in the spring.
