Winter Pansies are about ready for planting out. Don’t ditch them in the Spring - simply cut back and they will flower the whole summer.

Send for reputable Seed Catalogues like Plants of Distinction.

Divide Rhubarb crowns and deliberately allow them to become frosted before replanting.

Before any heavy frost plant out Spring Cabbages.

Sow a seed tray with Mixed Rocket which will be ready in 4-5 weeks time.

Begin to lift and dry off the early Dahlias. Remove all the soil and bed down in trays or in lined Apple Boxes.

Lift any half hardy perennials and bring them into the greenhouse or cold frame. Start covering tender shrubs such as Camellias or Rhododendrons particularly if growing in pots.

Give the Rose Bushes their first light pruning before the main pruning in March.

Cyclamen hederifolium are at their best now. Carefully lift the seed capsules above the soil in order to harvest good quality seed.

Study Potato Catalogues for the good old varieties as well as the new.

Walnut leaves are falling thick and fast and will smother any plant beneath them. Beware if you have got a tree!

Check greenhouse heaters before they are required - don’t be caught out!
